Trade Tokens

MERCHANT TRADE TOKENS

Always looking for merchant trade tokens from Contra Costa County, especially Saloons and Pool Table Reverse. Would also trade for any other early items from C.C. County like photos, pocket mirrors, real photo postcards, stock certificates (especially mining, railroads, etc.) and early mail covers with unusual postmarks. Anything advertising pre-prohibition whiskey, beer or saloons from Contra Costa or Northern California. I also like Saloon or Pool Table Reverse Tokens and Pocket Mirrors from any town in California. These can be "good for" or not.

Contra Costa County Towns
For those of you not familiar with Contra Costa County, California, here's a list of the towns:

This is the only item of any type that I have ever seen with the name Gaeta on it.

CALIPATRIA - STOUT & EMERT / hole, ctr / CALIPATRIA, / CAL. // GOOD FOR 5c IN TRADE. Brass, 21mm, in very fine condition with no problems. This is a very small town with only a few tokens listed. K3

Los Angles Co.

JACK / SHOWERS / BRENTWOOD / MEN'S SHOP // GOOD FOR / 5c / IN TRADE. Brass, 21mm, in real good condition with some spotting. This token is from Brentwood Heights in southern California. K1 $25.00

TRES PINOS - SOUTHERN PACIFIC / HOTEL / & / SALOON / TRES PINOS, CAL // GOOD FOR / ONE / DRINK. Brass, 21mm, a very attractive saloon token in real good condition. Now a days, this variety is much harder to find than the aluminum variety. K 8

San Francisco Co.

SAN FRANCISCO - JOSEPH BROS. / OF LIVERPOOL ENGD. / WATCH MAKERS / JEWELLERS OPTICIANS / & GENERAL IMPORTERS / 149 MONTGOMERY ST. / SAN FRANCISCO, CAL - // THE CHEAPEST HOUSE / IN CALIFORNIA FOR / GOOD WATCHES / DIAMONDS / JEWELLERY / SILVER WARE CUTLERY, &c &c. This is an 1870's San Francisco store card token. It is a 30mm brass token that has been dug so it's dark but no worm holes. All the legends and reeding is very clear. It doesn't bother me but it could be professionally cleaned. The scan below is dark, it's actually lighter and easier to read than the scan. K1275 $ 65.00

SAN FRANCISCO - RICHMOND / BAKERY / star / 348 / CLEMENT ST. // GOOD FOR / ONE / LOAF BREAD. Aluminum, 32 mm, scalloped. The center cut star on this one is really off centered, fine condition. K 2215 $ 6.00

Shasta County, Oak Bottom

OAK BOTTOM - VERGNES BROS. / OAK BOTTOM, / CAL. // GOOD FOR / 10c / IN TRADE. Aluminum, 21mm, in E. F. condition. A hard token to find and only one listed for this town which is now under water. Again, the scan doesn't do it justice. K1

Solano County

VALLEJO - THE ROSE BAR / VALLEJO / CALIFORNIA // GOOD FOR / 5c / ON RETURN / OF BOTTLE. Brass, 25mm, dug condition, easily identified and could be cleaned. Two things I like about this token, California is spelled out and I think the Solano Brewery supplied these tokens for promotion. This is a rare unlisted bar token from Vallejo. Unlisted $35.00
